Early 1800s Primitive Blue Cabinet with Brass Stitch Detailing and Square Head Nails
Filled with incredible patina and layers of paint, our early 1800s primitive blue cabinet is sure to become a standout moment in your home. Lending itself well to multiple spaces, we love this as a pantry, in a bedroom as storage for sweaters and jeans or as a jaw-dropping entryway piece.
On the interior, a quaint metal patch and buttery smooth shelving greet you, the latter softened by time and use. The right side of the cabinet maintains an earlier paint color, as the blues you see on the front and left side are not present. We love to imagine why the right side didn't receive the blues - was it not wanting to move the cabinet and its contents or perhaps they ran out of paint and didn't bother to get more more? We're not sure, but we love the untold stories this piece holds.
And while there is no denying she is stunning from the front, our most favorite moment is on the left side. Noticing a split to the wood, a former owner ingeniously (and quite artistically) created a fix by using brass wire to stitch the pieces of wood to prevent further movement. A simple solution borne from whatever materials were available became a moment of unexpected artistry, and we couldn't love it any more.
